If someone wants to fly commercially , for hire or for reward one has to have a current Commercial pilot license issued by any ICAO state with approximate aircraft ratings to fly that particular aircraft . In order to attain CPL one has to pass theoretical exams like - Navigation , Meteorology , Regulations , Aircraft technical , RTR with minimum of 70% , apart from passing cpl written exams one has to undergo 200 hours of flying with no less than 100 hours of pilot in command time , with minimum of 20 hours of cross country ( mandatory 300 nm cross country ) , 5 hours of night pilot in command time in preceding 6 months , 25 hours of Instrument time out of which not less than 5 hours IR time in preceding 6 months . On completion of all cpl written exams and 200 hours of flying time one can undergo cpl flight test with an approved civil aviation examiner .
A lot of times aspiring pilot training student have a question what is the cost involved to become a commercial pilot , duration , best school where one can study this course , is it better to train abroad or in India , how is the job prospect after completion of the course and are there any education loan facilities since its an expensive course .
Cost varies from country country , flight school to flight school , depends you are using analog or glass cockpit aircrafts for training , generally glass cockpit rental aircraft cost is around 50 usd/hour more then analog ones . Generally flight training overseas in countries like USA , Canada , New Zealand , South africa etc is more economical when compared with couple good indian flight schools .On a whole one should be prepared to spend between 25-40 lakhs for his CPL with multi and instrument rating .
In USA one can complete CPL training in about 8 months whereas in New zealand , Canada , South africa training can be completed in 10-12 months . In India it can take anywere 2-3 years to complete CPL . Most of the students prefer to train overseas due to low training cost , less time taken to complete the training program and due to excellent flight training standards etc . There are couple good flight schools in every country you have to be just careful in picking one up . Make sure flight school has good number of aircrafts , aircraft to student ratio should not be more than 1:4 and instructor to student ratio should not be more than 1:4 . School should also have back up aircrafts as well , just incase if any aircraft goes into repair or scheduled mantainenece atleast you can fly on another standy aircraft . Weather plays a very important role in flight training , make sure the place where flight school is ,weather is good year around as that will be very important for your flight training course . School have good training facility like ample numberof briefing rooms , ground school rooms , self study area , dispatch , flight planning area , student lounge and it will be great if school has inhouse written exam testing center . It will be alwsys nice to fly on a modern fleet as its more reliable and prepares you better for todays challenging world .
Most of the nationalised banks provide education loan of upto 85% tution fees . With 100 plus new airports coming up in India and many new commercial jets coming in next 10 years demand for pilots will be there for years ahead . Aviation is an essential industry and is growing rapidly in India .To secure a pilot job in future one has to demostrate good flying skills and thorough understanding of the ground subjects , so that is why it is important you big good ground and flight training school .
Once you have completed and successfully cleared both theoritical and practical part of cpl training , one is awarded with a Commercial pilot license , which gives one a priviledge to fly popel and there property for a reward or compensation .
